Obituary

William Maslar, 94, a resident of Scott Township for more than 63 years, died October 9, 2024 in the Hospice Unit at Wilks-Barre VA Medical Center.  His beloved wife, Rose Giannone Maslar, died on June 26, 2011.  They were married for 53 years.  Bill was a devoted husband and father, loving grandfather and uncle, and a loyal friend to many.

Bill was an avid gardener, always working in his garden and caring for his plants-giving away most vegetables he grew.  He enjoyed fishing and being outside in nature immensely.  He took pleasure in working on his farm and in his early years usually had a shepard by his side.  Often, he could be found working on a project in his workshop.  He particularly looked forward to summer, and especially liked being on his tractor and tending to the hay during hay season.  In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting and belonged to a hunting club.  Mostly though, he enjoyed being with his wife, on their farm and spending time with his children and eventually his grandchildren.  He enjoyed visitors and always had a story or two to tell that left people laughing as we enjoyed the time with him.  Bill worked for Rabel Beverages, Peckville, PA as a truck driver for 49 years.  He retired at the age of 74.  A veteran, he served in the U.S. Navy and spent his service on an air craft carrier.

He is survived by a son William Maslar and wife Annette, of Scott Township, PA; daughter Rosemary and husband David Woods of Landenberg, PA; grandchildren, Anya Maslar, of Scott Township, David Woods and wife Ashley Goreshnik of New Haven, Connecticut, and Lindsey Woods, of Scott Township; nieces and nephews.

He will be laid to rest near his wife at St. Andrews's Cemetery, Dickson City, PA.

A private memorial will be held by immediate family.
