Sophie (Sue) Chylak, 93, of Dunmore passed away peacefully on Sunday at Marywood Heights Skilled Nursing.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Hall of Fame Umpire, Nestor Chylak Jr, who died February 17, 1982.  Born in Dickson City, she was the daughter of the late William and Mary Karchefsky Shemet.  She was a graduate of Dickson City High School.  Early in her career she was employed by Bell Telephone New Jersey-Pennsylvania and Prudential Insurance.  She was a real estate agent for Ruddy Real Estate in Dunmore for over 40 years, until her retirement at age 90 in 2020.  She loved painting, crosswords, and an occasional trip to the casino.  Her biggest joy was spending time with her grandchildren.  She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.  She was a devout Christian and member of Saints Cyril and Methodius Church in Olyphant.

She was survived by two sons; Robert and wife Nancy, Newtown, William and Wife Christine, Throop; Seven grandchildren; Matthew and wife Kelly, Mary Elizabeth, William and Wife Sarah, Sarah, Daniel, Joseph, and Nicholas, One great grandchild Jordan, Several nieces and nephews.  She preceded in death by her sister Anne Remick.

We would like to thank the nurses at Geisinger CMC, Marywood Heights, and Hospice of the Sacred Heart for their loving care during her final days.

The funeral will be held Thursday at 10 A.M. with a mass of Christian Burial at SS Cyril and Methodius Church, 135 River St. Olyphant.  Interment SS Cyril and Methodius Cemetery.
