Robert Francis Troy, Green Ridge Section Scranton, passed into miraculous peace September 23rd in Regional Hospital. His wife of 67 years is the former Elizabeth "Betty" Troatsy.
The epitome of a gentleman, he lived his strong faith daily, loving unconditionally and seeing in everyone only the best.
Born July 29, 1929, he was a lifelong Scranton resident. Son of the late Joseph F. and Caroline Albrecht Troy, he was a graduate of Scranton Technical School. He served in the US Army in Germany during the Korean Conflict. His career in retail management at Scranton Dry Goods/Oppenheim's, The Globe Store and Reynolds Brothers led to his appointment to leadership positions for several commercial and charitable organizations. A faithful and active member of St. Paul's Parish, he gladly shared his talents by serving his Holy Name Society, The Finance Committee, volunteering with the Block Party, decorating the church for holiday celebrations, and singing in the choir for decades.
Also surviving are his children, Patrick and wife Beth Troy, Clarks Summit, Maribeth and husband Dan Kelleher, Clarks Summit, Robert J. and wife Laura Troy, Charlottesville, VA, and Jon Troy and partner Geraldine Mulcahy, Scranton; grandchildren Brad and wife Dr. April Troy, Kristen and Husband Matthew Houtz, Troy Kelleher, Andrew Troy, Robert D. Troy and Emma Troy; great-grandchildren Connor Troy, Noah Troy, Logan Houtz and Dana Houtz; a Sister-in-law Barbara Scozzaro, and several nieces.
He was preceded in death by a sister Ruth Troy Storck.
Funeral Mass at St. Paul's Church will be private at the convenience of the family.
Memorial contributions can be made to St. Paul's Food Pantry.
