Obituary

Robert Roy Baldassano,57, of Dickson City, embarked on his final journey to the great beyond on February 3, 2024.  Born to Robert S. Baldassano of Napa Valley, CA, and the late Jeanette Goransson of Nescopeck, PA, Rob's life was a vibrant blend of professional achievement, creative expression, and heartfelt devotion to his family, friends, and community.

Rob's professional journey was in the field of Internet Security and project management where he lent his expertise to prestigious organizations such as IBM, Guardian Insurance, Nasa Ames, and various state offices.  His academic achievements, including a BA in Business from Ashford University and numerous IT certifications, laid the foundation for a career characterized by innovation, leadership, and a commitment to excellence.

Beyond the professional endeavors or achievements, Rob was a vibrant soul who found joy and camaraderie in the Society for Creative Anachronism, adopting the persona of Herr Erik Harfaringer Goransson.  The creative outlet allowed him to explore his ancestral roots and share his love of history with a like-minded community.

Rob was a soul of many passions.  An avid tabletop gamer, he was the spirit of many gaming sessions, transforming his family home with a haven of camaraderie, strategy, "friendly" competition and imaginaiton.  These gatherings were a testament to Rob's ability to bring people together, creating lasting memories and forging deep bonds over shared adventures.

Rob's spiritual journey was equally rich, as a dedicated member of the Coven of Northern  Wooded mountains and the order of Sen-Taur.  His involvement in the coven and Order was a reflection of his quest for knowledge, and the sharing of wisdom within a community of like-minded souls.

He leaves behind a loving family; his wife, Lindsay Peters Baldassano of Old Forge, PA; his children, Erik of Dickson City, Stephen of Throop, and Julia Kosarev of Dickson City; his cherished grandsons, Steven and Roy Joseph; and his sisters Janis Bowers, KY, amd Jodi Penczack, CO and a massive extended family.  Each family member reflects a facet of Rob's vast legacy of love, caring, and joy.

A celebration of Rob's life will be held in the Spring where family, friends, fellow gamers, SCA members, and coven members are invited to share in the remembrance of a man whose life was a beacon of creativity, spirit, and unity.

Rob's journey was of profound impact, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those he touched.  His legacy of love, adventure, and bettering the lives of all around him will continue to inspire and guide us.  He will be deeply missed, but forever remembered as a guiding light and a cherished soul.
