With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Richard (Rick) Yablonsky of Olyphant who died at the age of 71 on August 5, 2024 at home.

Born in Scranton, son of the Late John and Loretta Nichtula Yablonsky, Rick was an avid fisherman and hunter.  He was a 1971 graduate of Mid Valley High School in Throop and worked at Yablonsky Builders alongside his father before running maintenance at Viewmont Village and the former Globe Store.  He was a 36 year cancer survivor prior to his death.

He and his wife, the former Glenda Goreschak celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary April 27, 2024.

He is survived by his wife Glenda Yablonsky; two sons, John and wife Charlene of Elmhurst; Jason and significant other Aimee of Honesdale; a brother Ronald; a sister Lynn Haas; a niece and nephew ; and his dog, Dolly

There will be a private ceremony remembering Rick with his family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to The Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Sloane-Kettering, Pediatric Cancer, or the donors charity of choice.
