Paul "Foxy"
Puhalla
January 10, 1945 – March 28, 2023
Paul "Foxy" Puhalla,78, of North Scranton, died Tuesday morning at Hospice of the Sacred Heart in Dunmore. He was preceded in death by his wife Vaughn Hill Puhalla who died in 2018. Born in Throop, son of the late Joseph and Emma Mazzucca Puhalla, he graduated from Throop High School in 1962 and entered the United States Navy, serving aboard the USS Salamonie until 1964. He returned to the area and worked in the warehouse at Harper Collins Publishers for over 45 years, before retiring in 2012.
Foxy was the life of the party. He enjoyed music, dancing, and a good time, whether at home , on vacations, or traveling to visit children and grandchildren. Though he grew to be a man of few words, the ones he did say left memorable impressions. He loved to watch and play golf during his retirement, and more recently enjoyed a never-ending Christmas ,watching movie marathons on the Hallmark channel. Above all else he loved his family. He was so proud to watch his children, their spouses, and his grandchildren grow and thrive in their personal pursuits and interests.
He is survived by his four children , Patti Ahlman and husband Jeff (Peoria,AZ), Michelle Woody and husband Jonathan Woody (Charlotte, NC) , Karen St.Ledger and Husband Tim (Jessup) and Paul Puhalla Jr and wife Sharon (Cheshire,CT). Also surviving are his brother Peter Puhalla (Diane) and his sister, Ann Marie Kalinoski (Vince), his brother-in-law, Joe Meta, his sister-in-law Sue Hill and seven grandchildren : Megan, Timmy, Jack, Elizabeth, Abby, Cara, Owen, many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his brother Joe and wife Ann, his sisters Madge "Cookie" Puhalla and Gloria Meta and his infant grandchild, Aaron Ahlman.
The Puhalla family extends its heartfelt appreciation to the dedicated nurses of the fourth floor at Scranton's Regional Hospital and the tremendous team of caregivers at Hospice of the Sacred Heart , Dunmore, in making the last few wees as comfortable and peaceful as possible for him.
