Norma M. Bowen of Throop passed away at 87 years old at Regional Hospital Scranton on November 20, 2025. She was the widow of Chester L. Bowen Sr, who died October 15, 2005. They had celebrated 44 years of marriage at the time of death.
Mrs. Bowen was born March 22, 1938, in Hazelton,PA, daughter of the late George and Evelyn Good Morgan and graduated from Hazleton High School in 1955.
She was employed by the Northeastern National Bank for 17 years and at the Taylor Nursing Rehabilitation Center for 16 years from which she retired in 2000. While at the bank she was a member of the American Institute of Banking for which she served a term as the Women's Chairman. Mrs. Bowen was also a member of the Mid Vallley PTA and the Mid Valley Band parents for which she served as secretary.
She was a member of the Bethania Presbyterian Church, Scranton and member of the Women of Bethania. She also belonged to the church choir for many years until it disbanded and served as a Sunday School teacher for several years.
Surviving are son Chester and his wife Lauren, grandaughter Jane, grandson Simon and granddog Beau all of Lititz. Also surviving are a sister Amelia of Moosic, brother Dennis of Palmerton , and a brother-in-law Richard of California, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by an infant brother George, a sister Anita Van Dyke and husband William, brother-in-law Floyd and wife Eileen, brother-in-law Robert and wife Gloria, brother-in-law John, sister-in-law Diane Morgan, sister-in-law Phyllis Philipkoski, great nephew Eric Van Dyke adn nephew Paul Van Dyke.
The Bowen family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Glenmaura Senior Living and the Regional Hospital of Scranton for their care and compssion.
The viewing will be held at the John F, Glinsky Funeral Home, Inc. 445 Sanderson St Throop, PA on Wednesday November 26 from 10:00-11:30 AM witha brief service following at 11:30
