Nella Ann (Nellie) Filippin Palumbo, of Allied Terrace and formerly of Throop, passed away after a brief illness on Friday Feb 10, 2022.  Nellie, who was a resident of Allied Terrace, Scranton, lived the majority of her life in Throop.  She was the daughter of the late Angelina Nicoli Fillippin and Umberto Filippin.  She was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Parish in Throop and formerly a member of the St, Bridget's Parish, also in Throop. She worked in her family's various businesses and was then employed by Penn State Worthington Scranton Campus ,Dunmore.  Nellie is survived by her niece Francene Yates and husband David, Bangor, PA; her great nieces Andrea Flannery, Dunmore, Jena Grutis, Makinac Island,MI; and Samantha Yates, Bangor, PA; her great-nephew Aaron Yatsko, Throop as well as 6 great-great nephews and 2 great-great nieces.  She was pre-deceased by her husband, Frank Richard Palumbo, and her sister, Leonora Filippin Yatsko.  She is survived by members of her late husband's family.

Nellie was a loving aunt and friend.  She loved her church and enjoyed working at church events such as the St.Bridget's annual "Turkey Dinner" as well as church picnics.  She once mentioned something about a conversation about being a nurse and even though she never pursued a nursing degree, she practiced nursing many times in her life when she cared for others.  She put herself before others and was always wanting to ensure that all were ok.  She was the type of person that if you got her something she would say "make sure you take it out of my money".  She had friends from many walks of life including her church, Penn State, Throop and Allied Terrace-where she lived since April 2021.  She kept in touch with friends and family and took and interest in what was going on in their lives.  She is and will be extremely missed by her family and friends.
