Snell Jr.
August 8, 1969 – December 16, 2023
Michael Paul Snell, Jr., 54, of Throop, passed away Saturday December 16 at home, after losing his well-fought battle with cancer. He was a devoted and loving husband of 32 years to the former Kimberlee Ann Appel.
Born in Scranton, Son of Michael P. Snell, Sr and the late Geraldine Perkowski Snell, he was a graduate of Mid-Valley High School, and a member of SS. Anthony and Rocco Parish, Dunmore. As a child , and throughout life, he and his brothers were inseparable-even though he loved taking their new toys and giving them his broken ones. Prior to his tragic accident that permanently disabled him, he was a master tech and supervisor at Midas Scranton. His all-time favorite was working in his father-in-laws body shop, where they worked building his perfect race car a "Chevy Nova" and his "Chevy Blazer".
He was a perfectionist on building. and working on his vehicles or any type of machinery-especially his "Heavy Chevy Stepside," building stero systems, listening to loud music, and became known as the "One call does it all" handyman. He was loved by all who knew him and was always the life of the party!
His biggest joy in life was spending time with his children and the birth of his first grand baby. His most enjoyable times were the riding adventures that he took them on. His biggest thrill was working side-by-side helping them work on their cars and teaching them the "right way to do it.
Surviving are six children, Codi Snell, Dante Snell and Samantha Rescigno, Tiana Snell and fiance' Jake Wolynski, Shayne Snell and Audrey, Michael Snell III and Madison Demeck, Jadeyn Snell and grandson Ayden Michael Snell, father Michael P. Snell,Sr.; brothers Jason Snell and Jeff Snell; Aunts and Uncles, Godmother Loretta Viola, Edwina Hynosky and Gary, Florence and Jack Snell, Father-in-law, Gordon G. Appel Sr; Sister-in-laws and Brother-in-laws, Patrick and Sarah Appel; Gina Appel Galea, Gordon Appel, Jr and Dawn Pileggi. He is also survived by many more aunts ,uncles, cousins, nephews, and in-laws.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Geraldine Perkowski Snell, maternal grandparents Edward and Anna Perkowski; paternal grandparents, Frank and Margaret Snell, Uncle and Godfather , Michael Viola Sr; Aunt and Uncle, Antoinette and Basil Giombetti; Mother-in-law Bernadette Appel, Brother-in-law , Armand Galea, Jr.
All those attending mass please go directly to church.
In lieu of flowers please make donations to the family to help defray cost of medical and final expenses.
