Mary Wohar, 98, of Dunmore, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2025 at Hospice of the Sacred Heart where she was surrounded by her family.
Born in Scranton, PA, she was the daughter of the late George A. Wohar and Helen Zoltanich Wohar. She graduated from Scranton Technical High School with a business diploma. Mary worked for numerous years for Consolidated Molded Products Corporation, Scranton, PA, as an Executive Secretary. She then moved on to a position as Business Office Manager for the Scranton Building Trades, at the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Building in Scranton, PA, where she worked until her retirement. Mary's favorite job of all was a part time job that she took after retirement working for Burger King in Dunmore ,PA. She loved talking and laughing with customers and adored the smiling faces and happy chatter of children that would visit. All of her regular customers called her "Aunt Mary" as was the norm for even her most casual aquaintenances elsewhere. Everyone knew her as "Aunt Mary".
Mary is survived by her brother George Wohar and wife Sally, North Plainfield, NJ, nieces and nephews, as well as many great nieces and nephews. Mary adored every member of her immediate and extended families and was a joy to all family and friends who had the pleasure of knowing her and being a part of her life. She will be sorely missed.
She was preceded in death by a brother Nicholas Vohar Sr, Bethlehem, PA, and two sisters, Helen Wohar Mondak of Hagerstown, MD, and Anne Wohar Malinchak, Dunmore, PA. Mary resided with Anne and her family in Dunmore for the majority of her years.
Mary was a dedicated and lifelong member of St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church in Scranton.
A viewing will he held on Thursday April 10, from 8:30 TO 9:30 A.M. at the John F. Glinsky Funeral Home, Inc.445 Sanderson St.Throop, PA , directly followed by The Office of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. at St.Mary and St. John's Byzantine Catholic Church, 310 Mifflin Ave.,Scranton,PA
Interment immediately following at St. Catherine's Cemetery, 1247 Drinker Turnpike, PA, 435, Moscow, PA 18444.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore, PA, Or to St. Mary and St. John's Byzantine Catholic Church, Scranton.
