Mary Polcha.79 of Green Ridge Section passed away peacefully at home with her loving husband/caregiver at her side.She was a

brave-strong woman. loving wife,mother,aunt  and grandma. She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years,Joseph Polcha Sr.

Son Joseph Polcha Jr and wife Barbara of New Jersey, daughter Susan Phelps and husband Robert of South Carolina,

and grandchildren who she adored Christopher & Jessica Polcha of NJ and Jamie Phelps of SC and  Her Brother John McGurgan Jr.

Nephews Paul Jr,Scranton and Michael of Greenfield Twp.,Nieces Donna and Mary of Michigan,

Great Nieces and great nephew.

Mary was born in Scranton , she is the daughter of the Late John McGurgan Sr and Vera Fickus McGurgan.

She Attended and was a graduate of Technical High School, class of 1960.

She was a lifelong member of Holy Rosary Church, and a member and officer of the Catholic Womans's Club for many years in the 70's.

She worked as a nutritonist at Mercy Hospital, then paused her career to raise her children. Upon returning to the workforce she served

as Head Cashier at Burger King on the Scranton Carbondale Highway for 40 years. She loved her steady customers and her co workers

who all became her great friends.She loved her plants and gardening and enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren. She

enjoyed watching her first granddaughter play softball, playing catch with her second granddaughter out in the yard, playing cards and board games

with her competitive grandson, cooking and going all out for the holidays, and occasionally visiting Atlantic City to test her luck.

She loved the challenge of puzzles, word finds and crosswords.
