Marlene McHale, 74, of Scranton lost her courageous battle against cancer on July 30, 2023.  Born December 28, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Margaret Arvay Kersavage and Anthony Kersavage.

Marlene grew up in a big household with her five sisters and one brother.  Marlene and her twin sister, Arlene, were the babies of the family.  She remained close with her siblings and their families throughout her life.

Marlene had many jobs throughout her life and made many friends along the way.  It was nearly impossible to know Marlene and not love her.  Of her many jobs, none were as important to her as being a mother and grandmother.  She would tell you that she waited a long time for her grandchildren and she took this role very seriously.  Her daughters and grandchildren were the light of her life.

Marlene loved to garden and would spend hours making her garden beautiful.  She was also a marathon shopper always looking for a bargain.  She had a great sense of humor and was constantly looking on the bright side of things.  Marlene was a strong and kind person and was loved by many. She fought for six years for the benefit of her grandbabies and was lucky enough to form lasting memories with all of them.

She is survived by daughters Michele and Christine McHale; son-in-law Matthew Sorrento; two granddaughters Sophia and Quinn; and twin grandsons, Thomas and Christopher.  Also surviving are sisters Shirley Miezejewski, Patricia and husband Francis Moran, Regina and husband Joseph Weltz, Arlene Tassey, brother Robert and wife Dolores Kersavage, brother-in-law Charles Hemak, close friend Nancy Buday, many nieces and nephews and her beloved cat, Kali.

Marlene was preceded in death by her husband Thomas, mother Margaret and father Anthony, her sister Antoinette Hemak, brother-in-law William Tassey and Stanley Miezejewski and great nephew Ronald Webb.
