Marlene (Rusyn) Gongliewski, born March 2, 1936, passed away peacefully in the presence of her loving children on August 10, 2025. Marlene was born in Olyphant to John (Benny) Rusyn and Anna (Stets) Rusyn. She was the loving wife of John J. Gongliewski Sr., who passed away in 1982.
She was preceded in death by a brother John (Sonny) Rusyn and a grandson James Gongliewski.
She is survived by her children, John J. Gongliewski Jr. and wife Nancy J., Cynthia M. Reynolds, Susan Tully and husband William (Leo), Nancy Bonavoglia and husband Anthony (Tony). Grandchildren John Gongliewski III, Ryan Reynolds, Victoria (Tori) Brown and husband Adam, Delaney Lorusso and husband Michael, Leo Tully and fiance' Bridget, Collin Tully, Nikko Bonavoglia and wife Kayla, Dominque Bonavoglia and fiance' Michael (Mike). Great Grandchild Ezekiel Z. Reynolds.
Also surviving are brother Nicholas J. Rusyn, sister Judith Rhodes and several nieces and nephews.
Marlene was a graduate of Olyphant High School and a retired Weigh Master at Diamond K Inc., Scranton, PA,
Marlene was a devoted, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and puppy grandmother whose family was the light of her life. Renowned for her cooking, her family couldn't get enough of her famous potato salad, pierogi, halupki and ribs at family events. She was a talented gardner, artist, and seamstress who could design and make clothes worthy of a professional . Her presence was a joy to all who knew her, she will be sorely missed by all.
She was known for her warm compliments to all, so in her memory, in lieu of flowers please, compliment a stranger to put a smile on their face.

Friends and family may pay their respects at John F. Glinsky Funeral Home, Inc.Throop, PA from 4:00 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday August 19th.. Marlene was a parishoner of Blessed Carlo Acutis Parish and The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St.Parick's Church, 200 Delaware Avenue, Olyphant, PA at 9:30 a.m., Interment will be at St. Anthony's Cemetery, Dickson City, PA
All those attending mass please go directly to church.
