Obituary

Marina Appleton, 68 passed away unexpectedly in her home January 29, 2025.  The cause of death was sudden cardiac arrest.  Born July 31, 1956, Marina was a beloved daughter of the late Dolores Naylor and Adam Ambrogi.

Born in New Brunswick, New Jersey, she grew up in Eynon and was a graduate of Valley View High School.  Marina for a B.S. in Biochemistry from the University of Scranton and next studied at the University of Notre Dame.  She then served in the United States Navy for 7 years attending the rank of Second Lieutenant.  Afterward, Marina graduated from George Washington University with a Master of Science degree and received her juris doctor degree from the Catholic University of America.

After graduating law school, Marina worked as a attorney for the United States Department of Transportation, Federal Railroad Administration in Washington, D.C., and afterwards in their Philadelphia office.  Later in life, she was an EDiscovery Consultant before retiring to the Scranton Area.

Marina was a woman of many interests.  One of her greatest pleasures was cooking, preparing everything from porketta to pigs-in-the blanket.  Marina enjoyed finer art and searching for premium furniture, scouring the internet and countryside for deals.  She had a wide range of musical interests but considered Radiohead her favorite band.  A caring helper to many with a kind heart and generous spirit who went out of her way to help others in need,  Marina will be remembered as a passionate advocate for her sister, Mary Ann, always using her voice to speak up for what she believed in..

Marina is survived by her father, Adam Ambrogi and wife Janice, sister Mary Ann Ambrogi, brother Attorney Jospeh Ambrogi and wife Johanna, niece Angelique Morano and husband Jesse, nephew Charles Ambrogi and wife Jenelle, and sister-in-law Maria Ambrogi.  Marina was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Martin D. Appleton, her mother Dolores Naylor, and brothers John Ambrogi and Adam Amborgi, Jr.

Funeral services will he held at 10:30 A.M. Thursday February 6 inside the chapel at St. Mary's Cemetery, Scott Twp. PA

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Griffin Pond Shelter, 967 Griffin Pond Road, Clarks Summit, PA 18411
