Known to all as "Peggy", Margaret Rodney, age 88 of Throop, passed away on August 24, 2025, at Allied Hospice after a courageous battle with Parkinson's and a recent stroke.
Peggy was the widow of Elwood T. Rodney, who passed in 2022. They were married for 60 years.
Born in Scranton to Norman and Catherine Mott, a graduate of Scranton Tech High School, and worked for Pawnee Pants.
She leaves behind memories of love, laughs, and kindness as a wife, sister, aunt, and forever friend.
Peggy enjoyed treveling with her husband, Elwood; they were both avid loyal Penn State fans, holding season tickets for many years. She enjoyed listening to music, gardening, cooking, baking, and was known for her carrot cake and nut roll cookies.
Peggy was devoted to Throop Methodist Church. She enjoyed singing in the choir, working at church dinners and hoagie sales, and participating in the Women's Society, but most of all, she cherished the lifelong friendships she made.
Peggy is survived by her brother Gerald Mott Sr.and wife Nancy, sister Deborah, nieces and nephews, including Sandy Dellia and husband Bill, caregivers, great nephews Carmen and Jon Dellia, who she adored.
She was preceded in her death by sister Elizabeth Ritchie and nephew Jay Mott, in-laws Elwood Sr. and Alice Rodney.
Peggy's niece, Sandy, would like to thank Peggy's friend Doris for her support, Allied Hospice for their compassionate care, and The Gardens of Green Ridge for their care, respect and kindness, and her friendships with staff and residents.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Throop United Church Memorail Fund at 135 charles St. Throop, PA 18512.
Funeral services will be graveside at Elmdale Cemetery, Mount Cobb and will be held on Saturday September 6, 2025, at 11 a.m.
All those attending graveside service please go directly to the cemetery.
