Lillian M. Gretz

Lillian Gretz, 84, of Jefferson Township passed away on July 25, 2026 after a short stay at Hospice of Sacred Heart. Born and raised in Throop by her parents, the late Lillian Rakosky Cron-Fedura, William Anthony Cron and Eugene Fedura, she was a graduate of Throop High School where she met the love of her life and soulmate George while walking home from school. Following graduation, she earned a degree in medical technology from Hahnemann Hospital School of Nursing and began her career as a Phlebotomist. She paused her career aspirations to raise her three boys which she regarded as her most significant accomplishment in life. Later, she taught Phlebotomy for many years at Allied Medical Technology and Fortis Institute. She was always gratified to encounter one of her former students while she was attending a medical appointment. She demonstrated incredible resilience throughout life following the death of her father at a young age, a cancer diagnosis and her most recent battle with circulatory issues.

An avid supporter of her sons’ academic, athletic and musical endeavors, she was a member of the North Pocono Booster Club and delighted in ringing her cowbells in support of the Trojans. She was also a lover of dogs and enjoyed her relationship with many canine companions.

Survivors include her husband George with whom she enjoyed 60 years of marriage, her three sons, George and wife Stacey, Greg, and Gene and wife Joanne, grandchildren Emily, Aaron and Ethan, cousins Marcella Gawron and Walter Rakosky, sister-in-law Ruth Dzielak-Jones, brother-in-law Charles Dutkevitch, goddaughter Marilyn Buckland and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her daughter-in-law Kelly Gretz, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Mary and Nicolai Eitutis, and sister-in-law Martha Dutkevtich.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, August 1, 2026 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Carlo Acutis Parish at Saint Anthony of Padua Church, 215 Rebecca Street, Throop. Private interment will follow at St. Anthony’s Cemetery.

Family and friends are asked to go directly to the church.

Arrangements are entrusted to the John F. Glinsky Funeral Home Inc.,Throop.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Lillian’s name to Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore.
