Joseph Walter Kalinoski

Joseph W. Kalinoski, 90, of Throop, passed away on Monday, September 21, 2026. He was preceded in death by his wife, Theresa M. (Skutnik) Kalinoski, who passed away in September 2015.

Born on April 24, 1936 in Throop, he was the son of the late Joseph and Pearl (Gregorski) Kalinoski. Before retirement, he worked as a welder at Superior Fireproof Door and Sash. He was a US Army veteran, who served in Germany during the Berlin Crisis of 1961. He was on the BAR Rifle Team and appeared in the epic war film, The Longest Day, along with fellow members of the 16th Infantry Regiment.

He was passionate about the outdoors, particularly hunting, fishing, and gardening. He was very proud of his grandchildren and loved hearing about all their accomplishments. Most recently, he was a seven-year resident at Mid Valley Health Care Center, where he loved to joke with staff and give them all nicknames, hand out snacks, and continue his gardening.

He is survived by daughter Kim Marie Stuckart, Lexington, SC; son, Joseph Kalinowski and wife, Angela, Prosperity, SC; his seven grandchildren, Matthew Jr. (Staff Sergeant, USAF), Daniel (Major, USMC), Brigitte and Bertin (Captain, USMC) Stuckart, and Alexa, Anna and Joey Kalinowski; great-granddaughter, Olive Elizabeth Stuckart; and brother Felix Kalinoski of Throop.

He was also preceded in death by five brothers, Paul, Vince, Stanley,Anthony, and Edward, and four sisters, Josephine,Stephanie, Pauline,and Ann.

Family and friends may call Sunday, September 27,  2 to 4 p.m., at the John F. Glinsky Funeral Home Inc.,445 Sanderson St., Throop. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, 9:30 a.m., at St. Carlo Acutis parish at St. Anthony's Church, 215 Rebecca St., Throop. Those attending are asked to please go directly to the church.
