John J. Portonova,78 of Throop passed away August 10,2022 at his home. Son of the late Peter and Helen Sopp Portonova. He was an avid sportsman.  He was also a Vietnam Veteran and retired union laborer in construction.  He is survived by former wife and best friend Margaret Gongliewski Portonova, a son Randall and a daughter Kimberly Mallick and Husband Keith.  Two Grandchildren that put a sparkle in his blue eyes, Kyle Mallick and Alexis Portonova.  John's true compassion was his cocker spaniel Daisy Mae.  He was a generous man with many funny zingers.  He enjoyed daily rides with Daisy to meet his many life long friends that meant so much to him.  Even though he had a failing heart that took him away from this world, his loving heart left a beacon of light for all that knew him.  He will be sadly missed by all his family and friends.
