John  "Jack" Mellow, 83, of Blakely, PA, passed away on Wednesday November 6, 2024.

He is survived by his loving family; daughter, Lynn Mellow, Philadelphia, PA; son, Jeff Mellow, Montgomery, AL; brother, Richard Mellow and wife Debbie; brother-in-law David Niemiec; nieces, nephew, great nieces and great nephews.  Preceding him in death were Jack's parents; Emily (nee Lark) and Richard Mellow and sister Dawn Niemiec (nee Mellow) and former wife Eugenia Mellow (nee Borusiewicz).

Raised in Dickson City, PA, he was a graduate of Dickson City High School.  After graduation he had his own electrical contracting business, before working as an electrician for the Pennsylvania State Hospital and the Scranton School for the Deaf.  He also taught his trade to inmates at SCI Waymart.

He was very active in politics, first in his hometown and then later as the County Controller of Lackawanna County.  He was a 50-year member of the Kingsbury Masonic Lodge #466 and Lifetime member of the Dickson City Fire Department where he made lasting friendships.  After retiring Jack moved to Blakely, PA where he spent most of his days in the garden.  Jack took pleasure in traveling, driving his Corvette and rooting for the Dallas Cowboys.

A viewing will be held on Friday November 15 from 9:30 A.M.to 11:30 A.M. at the John F. Glinsky Funeral Home, Inc. 445 Sanderson St. Throop, with a blessing service at 11:30 A.M..
