Richardson
April 3, 1945 – February 18, 2026
Evelyn M. Richardson, 80, of Throop, passed away Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at Geisinger Community Medical Center Scranton, surrounded by her loving family. She was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Richardson, who passed away in 2017.
Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Richard S. Tratthen Sr. and Evelyn Fraizer Tratthen. She was a member of Throop Methodist Church, she attended Throop High School and worked at Specialty Records. She was a lifetime member of the Scott Township Hose Company Ladies Auxillary.
She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, and a very proud great grandmother. Her children meant the world to her and she cherished the time spent with them.
She enjoyed playing cards every Saturday night with her son Corey, going out to dinner, especially her monthly trips to the chinese buffet with her great grandson Liam, and her sister-in-laws Janice and Marie. She loved her vacations at the beach with her daugher Melissa and her family. She will be greatly missed by her entire family.
Also surviving are two sons Jim Richardson and wife Nikki, Scott Township, Corey Richardson, Throop, and daughter Melissa Parry and husband Craig, Madisonville. Seven grandshildren: Jimmy, Kyle, and Ryan Richardson, and Matthew, Sarah, Jake and Katie Parry. Four great- grandchildren: Liam and Jake Richardson, and Brandi and Morgan Parry. Brother, John Tratthen Sr. and wife Betty, Scott Township, and brother-in-laws Ken Richardson and wife Marie, Throop, and Mark Richardson and wife Janice, Throop. Plus many nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her sister Jane Kurilla , and brothers Richard Tratthen, Bill Tratthen and Tom Tratthen.
A Memorial Service to celebrate Evelyn's life will be held Saturday April 11, 2026, at 2 p.m. at Throop Methodist Church, 136 Charles St.Throop.
The family will receive family and friends from 1:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the church.
