Eric John"EJ" Cunningham, 49, of Scranton passed away unexpectedly, Saturday March 19,2022 , and has gone on to be with the Lord. EJ will be greatly missed for his immense heart, generosity and as a friend to everyone.  He was born to Dorothy Moss and the Late Vincent Cunningham on February 18, 1973 at Mercy Hospital in Scranton,PA.  EJ was educated in the Scranton School District and graduated from Central High School in 1991 where he participated in sports making numerous lifelong friends along the way.  From a young age, EJ, was an enthusiastic sports fan and athlete.  In his youth, he would be either on the baseball fields of the Central City Little League or patrolling 3rd base on the diamond at Washington Street Park in Throop.  His competitive spirit lasted into adulthood and led to his love of the Penn State Nittany Lions Football, North Carolina Tarheels basektball as well as his beloved Philadelphia Eagles.

When not working or watching sports, he could always be found hanging out with his many friends and family golfing,hunting,or fishing throughout northeastern Pa.  EJ spent many years working at the Scranton Municipal Golf Course and more recently at Pine Hills Country Club as the kitchen manager, where he touched so many lives through the food he cooked and the friendships he created.  Cooking was also a passion for EJ, as he took pride in the menu he created at Pine Hills and passing on recipes to his family.

EJ is survived by his mother Dorothy Cunningham and his half-sister, Jennifer Cunningham, his step-sister, Candace Cimino and his beloved cat Max along with several Aunts,Uncles,and Cousins, who loved him beyond words.

His legacy and memories will live on forever in the hearts and minds of everyone he knew.
