Obituary

Duane W. Davies,77 a lifelong resident of Throop, died Monday evening at Regional Hospital of Scranton.  He is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years Jean Odzana Davies.  Born in Throop, son of the Late Roger and Gladys Rivenberg Davies, he was a graduate of Throop High School.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Airforce (1966), honorably discharged in 1969.  Before retirement, he worked 35 years at HarperCollins Publishers' Dunmore warehouse.  He was a member of the Teamsters Union 229.

Duane was an avid card player (Texas Hold'em). He was well known for his love of Harness Horse Racing and was widely admired for his superior ability at handicapping a race.  He was a life-long fan of the N.Y. Yankees and N.Y. Giants.  He will be remembered as a humble, loving husband, larger-than-life uncle, and will be greatly missed by all of us.  Additionally, besides Jean, he is survived by his best "cat" friend, Jesse and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Roger (Jay) Davies and Ronald Davies, and a sister Audrey Davies Tucker.

Funeral services will be held privately with Interment at Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst.
