Dorothy Teresa (Viseskis) Ditchkus, 89, of Scranton died peacefully after a sudden illness on Monday, November 13, 2023 while surrounded by close family at UPMC Hospital in Lititz, PA.
A loving wife and mother, she was preceded in death by her husband Albert Raymond Ditchkus, who passed away in May 2021.
She is survived by daughters Karen Brown (Kurt), Lititz, Susanne Gudaitis (Chuck), Scranton, and Judith Omerza (Richard) of Wilkes-Barre, granddaughters Elyse Thomas (Ryan) of Lititz and Lauren Ormianer (Oren) of Brownstown, PA, great granddaughter Daphne Thomas and great grandson Clark Thomas, both of Lititz.
She is also survived by a sister Barbara Miley and nephew Stephen Miley of Vineland, NJ. She was preceded in death by nephew Fran Miley and niece Christine Miley of Vineland.
She is survived by sister-in-law Kathy Ditchkus, of Round Hill, VA, aunt Ann Bartsch of Scranton, as well as several cousins and other nieces and nephews.
Born in Scranton, she was preceded in death by parents William and Margaret (Glazauskas) Viseskis, sisters Ruth Fricovsky and Marian Blasko.
A1951 Graduate of Scranton Central High School, she took courses in business at the University of Scranton and International Correspondence School, where she was employed for several years. She was also employed at the Scranton Gas Company. She was an active member of the Scranton Model Cities project.
She was a member of the former St.Joseph's Lithuanian Church and Mary Mother of God Church in North Scranton. Active in the choir and both churches and a member of the Women's Society at St Joseph's, she also chaired and co-chaired many special events over the years including the flea market and quilt socials,
