Barbara
Dulney
May 28, 1935 – November 30, 2023
Barbara Dulney, 88, a lifelong resident of Throop, passed away unexpectedly on November 30, 2023. She was the widow of Stanley R. Dulney, who died in 1990. The couple was just shy of celebrating their 30th wedding anniversary at the time of his death.
Barbara was the daughter of the late Mary and Stephen Bakes. She graduated from Throop High School, then went on to graduate from Scranton-Lackawanna Junior College. Prior to becoming a mom, she worked for the Internal Revenue Service,
Barbara was a selfless caregiver her whole life; from her husband, children, grandchild and grand doggies to caring for her parents when they were elderly. She always put others before herself and would offer prayers for anyone in need of them.
Following in her father's footsteps, she always maintained a beautiful flower garden and enjoyed her many houseplants. She was an avid reader, a wonderful cook, and loved to shop. She loved to celebrate all holidays and made each one special for her family. Decorations always adorned the house, creating unforgettable memories and traditions that are cherished to this day.
Family came first and was above all else to Barbara, a value she instilled in all those around her. The hole left by her absence will be impossible to fill.
In addition to her husband and parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her sister Dorothy Pagani.
She is survived by her daughter, Diane McManus and husband Bill; son Steven and partner Carla Spering; a grandchild; grand doggies, Pete and Boo; several cousins nieces and nephews.
The family would like to recognize and send a heartfelt thank you to caregivers, Linda Brooks and Robin Perri, who treated Barbara as if she was their own mother. Their loving care allowed her to remain in her home until her death. We are indebted to them and love them as family.
