Archangel (Archy) Poplawsky passed away peacefully at home on July 1st. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alex Poplawsky.
She was born and raised in her home in Throop on May 17th, 1930. Daughter of Salvatore and Antoinette Russo, she was a devout Catholic. An active member of St. Anthony’s Church and was a regular at St. Anns Novena. She was a graduate of Throop High School class of 1948. With a strong work ethic, she had careers at the A&P offices in Scranton; Weldwood Lounge in Eynon and retired as office manager for Dr. Meera Sharma.
Archy was an avid sports fan who attended many Penn State football games as well as golf and tennis tournaments. She was a proud member of the Red Hats and could always be found playing cards with her friends at the Throop Senior Center. She will truly be missed by all who knew her.
Archy is survived by her daughters, Kathryn Williams (Tom), Michele Uhranowsky (John), Joanne Burchstead and her son Tony; grandchildren Alex Poplawsky (Meghan), Jeffrey Poplawsky, Scott Uhranowsky (Stephanie), Marie Muchal (Dave), Kari Uhranowsky, Ashley Bittner (Matt), and Lindsay Ciccone (Nick); great-grandchildren Aidan and Tyler Muchal, Scarlett, Eve and Nate Poplawsky, Parker Bittner and Tommy Poplawsky; daughter-in law Deborah Poplawsky. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her son Alex, grandson Jon, brother Salvatore and sisters Kay Benson and Mary Kreis; brother-in-law’s Joseph Kreis and Kenneth Benson and sister-in-law Mildred Russo.
The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to her caregivers Deb and Alicia who with their help and compassion enabled us to keep Mom at home.
The family will receive friends on Thursday July 9, 2026 at 9:00 a.m. at Saint Carlo Acutis Parish at St. Anthonys Church, 215 Rebecca St. Throop. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00a.m. Interment will follow at St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Moscow.
All those attending mass please go directly to church.
Arrangements entrusted to the John F. Glinsky Funeral Home, Inc. Throop. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Saint Carlo Acutis Parish or Hospice of the Sacred Heart, 30 E.D. Preate Dr. Moosic, Pa. 18507.
