Obituary

Ann Kathleen Giovagnoli Longo, a resident of Throop, the matriach of our family, passed peacefully into eternal life Wednesday, July 16. She was born in Connecticut on June 19,1941, and was the  daughter of loving parents, the late William F. Giovagnoli, Sr. and Frances Warenda Giovagnoli. As a young girl, she and her family moved to Dickson City.

Her husband, Carmen Anthony Longo, preceded her in death on March 12, 2020.  They were devoted to each other and lovingly referred to each other as "Honey". Together they were avid gardeners, enjoyed canning their vegetables, and were advocates of recycling and composting. Most importantly, they loved caring for their family. Ann graduated from Dickson City High School and Empire Beauty School. She was the owner and operator of Ann Kathleen's Beauty Shop, Dickson City, until she retired to raise her children. Ann was a wonderful cook, who was well-known for her potato pancakes, ravioli, gnocchi, cappelletti, Texas wiener sauce, and meatballs, to name a few. Additionally, she made specialty birthday cakes for her grandchildren and a variety of bread and cookies for the holidays.

Affectionately known as "Gram," Ann was a loving daughter, sister, friend, aunt, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  She loved sewing, ceramics, puzzles, crafting, and most especially, making Easter bonnets and different projects with her granddaughters.

Ann was preceded in death by her parents, William F. and wife, Frances Giovagnoli; her daughter Terri Longo Mackrell; her brother and sister-in-law, Bill and wife, Marie Giovagnoli;  her sister Kathleen Giovagnoli Fowler; her brother-in-law, John Bruno. She is survived by her beloved and devoted daughters, Ann Marie Burns and husband John; and Sandy Longo; grandchildren who were her pride and joy, Shaun Mackrell, Pharm D. and wife Amy; Attorney Tara A. Burns, and Dr. Maura C. Burns; also great-grandchildren, Ella and Aubrie Mackrell; her nephew, Billy Giovagnoli and wife Nicki; nephew Michael Giovagnoli and wife Sarah, and several other nieces and nephews. Also, many treasured great-nieces and nephews, Emma, Ava, Lea, Billy, and Sophie Giovagnoli.  She is survived by son-in-law, David Mackrell; sister-in-law, Agnes Bruno; brother-in-law, Ronald Fowler.

The family would like to thank Dr. Tracy Galardi and staff, Sinclair's Home Care Registry, Green Ridge Care Center, Traditional Home Health At-Home Therapy, and most especially Allied Services Hospice Center, Morgan Highway, Scranton for their extraordinary care and compassion for "not only mom but also her family".
