Obituary

Adele Glinsky, 86, of Throop passed away peacefully Tuesday September 30, 2025 at home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Olyphant to the late Theodore and Adele Ditchkus Shopay.  She was the loving wife of John F. Glinsky Jr., who passed away August 3, 2018, after celebrating 58 years of marriage.

She was a graduate of Olyphant High and worked at Scranton State Hospital as a X-ray Tech.  She was the heart and soul of the John F. Glinsky Funeral Home, Inc. Throop where she and Jackie established many life-long friendships.  A hard worker, she found the greatest joy in spending time with her family, washing cars by hand, gardening, baking and taking care of her beloved dogs.  A devoted mother and grandmother she lived a life of simplicity, kindness and quiet strength.  There was nothing more important to her than being with her family, going out to her favorite restaurants, cherry martinis, wine spritzers and nightly walks she too with her fur babies.  She took pride in never missing a sporting event or school activity of her granddaughter and grandson all through their school years.  She truly was their "greatest" and most "loyal" fan.  Those that knew her well  will always remember her for her kindness, gentle nature and hard work ethic.

She is survived by her three children, JoAnn (Mike), Judith (John) and John III (Chrissy), who will continue the legacy of the business that she built with her husband.; two grandchildren, JJ and Katie Glinsky, and her sister MaryAnn Koropchak and husband John; nephew John Koropchak and wife Riza and their daughter Aliana and her most treasured fur babies Mercedes, Jaxson and Zoe.

She was preceded in death by her sister Dory Dorin and brother-in-law Thomas Dorin, aunts and uncles.
